The Texan Radio Network Underwriting Guidelines
The purpose of this document is to provide a comprehensive set of underwriting
guidelines for programs airing on The Texan Radio Network. The intent is to
provide the greatest amount of exposure and identification possible to program
underwriters without compromising The Texan's noncommercial character.
CREATIVE ELEMENTS OF THE CREDIT’S CONTENT
• Underwriters must be identified by name and may also be represented by their
corporate animated logo.
• The credit may include factually descriptive information about the
underwriter’s products, product line or services.
The information may not be qualitatively or promotionally
descriptive.
• The credit may include in audio a corporate positioning statement and the
underwriter’s well-established
corporate slogan that is not promotional.
• One specific product and up to three generic product lines or services are
permitted.
• Plausible, appropriate and value-neutral backgrounds may appear behind
corporate logos.
• Company spokespersons may provide voice-overs for underwriting credits.
Celebrity
spokespersons may be used in audio only.
• Specific addresses (i.e. 905 S Main St) or locations (i.e., corner of South
Main and Park St) may
be used aurally.
• Telephone numbers and/or web addresses may be used aurally but no call to
action may accompany (i.e.,
Call... Visit... Go to...).
• No solicitation of direct consumer response of any kind is permitted. (i.e.,
suggesting listener action such as “Visit
our showroom at...”)
• Music may be used in a credit.
• No superlatives or comparatives, such as “bigger” or “best”.
• No comparisons with other products or businesses are permitted.
• No mention of prices for products or services.
• No endorsements/statements such as “recommended by dentists.”
• We do not accept underwriting for politicians, local or national parties, or
any political issue.
• We do not accept wording which expresses the views of any person with respect
to any matter of public
importance or interest.
NOTES: Announcement copy is regulated by the Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) and is intended to “fully and
fairly disclose the true “identity” of all program funders.
The Texan retains the right to refuse any credit if it is in violation of
station guidelines, FCC guidelines, or is inconsistent with
the station environment and sound.
